This agreement
In plain wordsUsing Everydaypot means you accept these terms. If you do not, do not use it.
These terms are an agreement between you and the operators of Everydaypot (“we”, “us”), covering your use of the service. By uploading a photograph you accept them. Our privacy policy forms part of this agreement, and you can reach us at hi@everydaypot.com.
Who may use it
In plain wordsYou must be 13 or older. Between 13 and 17, you need a parent or guardian's permission.
Everydaypot is not for children under 13. If you are between 13 and 17, you may use it only with the consent of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the service. Cooking involves heat and sharp tools; a young person should be supervised by an adult.
What the service does
In plain wordsYou send a photo of ingredients. We try to name them and suggest three dishes from a fixed list of recipes.
Everydaypot reads a photograph of ingredients, matches what it finds against a curated table of dishes, and returns up to three suggestions with steps, timings and possible substitutions. The recipes are written and checked by people; the service matches and adapts them, it does not invent them.
The service is offered as it is. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it, and we do not promise that it will always be available or free of faults. It is under active development and parts of it may not work yet.
It can be wrong
In plain wordsThe ingredient it names may be the wrong one. Check what it says before you cook, and trust your own eyes.
Ingredient recognition is automated and imperfect. When it is unsure it will ask you, but it can also be confidently wrong. Quantities, timings and substitutions are suggestions, not instructions from a professional.
You are responsible for checking that what you are about to cook is what you think it is, that it is suitable for you and the people eating, and that nobody at your table is allergic or intolerant to anything in it. If a suggestion does not match what is in front of you, do not follow it.
Cooking and food safety
In plain wordsWe give no food-safety, storage or reheating advice at all. Those judgements are yours.
Everydaypot does not provide guidance on food safety, hygiene, storage, reheating, or how long anything may be kept, and nothing on this service should be read as such guidance. Deciding whether an ingredient is fresh and fit to cook, and how to handle food safely, is entirely your responsibility.
We are not responsible for illness, injury, allergic reaction, or loss arising from food prepared with the help of the service. If you are unsure about an ingredient, do not use it, and seek advice from a qualified person.
Your photographs
In plain wordsYour photos stay yours. You let us read them to run the service and to get better at recognising ingredients.
You keep ownership of every photograph you upload. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process and analyse it for two purposes only: to provide the service to you, and to improve ingredient recognition. That licence ends for the image when the image is deleted, which is 90 days after upload.
By uploading, you confirm that:
- the photograph is yours to send;
- it does not show identifiable people, and does not contain unlawful content;
- you are not sending anything confidential or sensitive.
We may remove any upload that breaks these terms.
How you may use it
In plain wordsUse it to cook. Do not attack it, scrape it, or resell it.
You agree not to:
- use the service unlawfully, or to break anyone else’s rights;
- interfere with it, attempt to gain unauthorised access to it, or test its security without our written permission;
- scrape, bulk-download or automate access to the recipes or any other part of it;
- resell it, or present its output as your own product.
What belongs to us
In plain wordsThe site, the recipe collection and the name are ours. The dishes themselves belong to everybody.
The Everydaypot name, the site, its design and the curated recipe collection are our property or licensed to us, and you may not copy or reuse them without permission. This does not claim ownership of any Nigerian dish, technique or ingredient; those belong to the people who cook them, and nothing here restricts you from cooking, teaching or writing about them yourself.
What we are not liable for
In plain wordsIf something goes wrong, what we owe you is limited. This does not cover things the law says cannot be limited.
To the fullest extent permitted by Nigerian law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, lost data, or loss arising from your reliance on a suggestion the service produced.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that Nigerian law does not allow to be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Ending it
In plain wordsYou can stop any time. We can stop your access if you break these terms.
You may stop using Everydaypot whenever you like; to have your information removed, follow the rights section of the privacy policy. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or use the service in a way that harms it or other people.
Governing law
In plain wordsNigerian law applies, and Nigerian courts decide any dispute.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Nigerian courts.
Changes and contact
In plain wordsWe may update these terms. Write to us with any question.
We may change these terms; the date at the top shows the current version, and continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it. Questions go to hi@everydaypot.com.
